With all that I am going through, I would like to ask you a HUGE favor. Could you please comment below about what you value in me, appreciate about me, what you have gotten by knowing me...basically the value I have brought to your life and the value you perceive in having me in the world. You can do it anonymously. I want it all in one place so when I am struggling or feeling down, I can read it. It would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Elizabeth, first let me say I apologize for not responding to your blogs at all, and I'm very happy to do this favor for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat I value in you is an example of an honest, forthcoming, open, and generally wonderful and genuine person. There are few people who would be so open about themselves, even when major events happen in their lives. Your value to me and to a lot of people that might not speak up I think is what an old TV commercial termed as "priceless." It feels like there's no one else online like you; I could look and find someone close, but even then you're still significant. The depth you can go to in your own feelings, interpretations of spoken words, perspectives I might've never bothered looking at from yourself and others. I'm not sure I could always agree with everything you've stated, done, etc, but I certainly respect it all, and often wonder what your take on most things would be, if they interested you.
You've also given me a sense of optimism in people in-general, where as if I didn't know you or pay attention to what you'd say, I'd be looking at people and things with more disdain and skepticism.
I know you didn't ask this, but if I had to sum you up in one word from all I've read from this blog, I'd say you're "genuine." I don't come by people I consider genuine very often in life, and when I do, it's a surreal experience that I end up treasuring. Every week I get to visit your blog at least once and find something new, something thoughtful, or even something useful for my life. Even with this blog, I can imagine you can or do make quite the positive impact with the people surrounding you. This world minus one genuine person like you I feel would be severely missing something.
You are a very valuable person, whether you're told this enough or not, or whether you believe it to be true.
I value your generosity, and I value your warmth. I value you for being an individual, for being true to yourself. I value your curiosity, and your reflection. But most of all, I value your laughter, because in it, I hear your heart and soul :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea btw I appreciate how resourceful and smart you are - whenever I have called you about anything you generally come up with an idea or good information. You are very courageous - I think much more than you give yourself credit for. You are an amazing coach, great listener and friend. I remember one time I was told I had a blockage in my stomach - you did some work on me - I had a second test and the doctor could not explain it but the blockage was gone - I will never forget that! I love you xoxox
