Back around 2001 I wanted to make a CD of recordings. It was long before you could make them easily yourself. I found someone who believed in me and what I was doing, and was given $500 to get equipment pay for studio time and 100 actual CDs. It was kind of cool being in a studio. The engineer told me how relaxed he felt as I was recording.
This was the cover I had created (the picture is an original, shrink-wrapped CD. At the time I was using "Esa" as an abbreviated version of Elizabeth, given that I did not like "Liz." Esa eventually gave way to "Essa" which eventually gave way to my given name.
Interesting piece about "Essa." It came about one night when I was in a crowded, noisy bar. Someone asked me my name. I said she could call me "E" or "Lisa." She heard me say "Esa." I liked the sound of it, so I started to use it. I later found out that Essa is "Jesus" in Islam.
I thought that interesting, given the direction I was headed.
I also found out it also is a form of "Isis," and I very much identify with things Egyptian.
Funny how things sometimes come together.
(As a side note, I also designed the image, and was using it on my business cards for a time)
