I had a friend that for several years at Christmas I would give him 12 candy canes for the 12 Days of Christmas. It started as an actual 12, one each day for 12 days. And then...One year it was in the form of cookies. Another year it was a set of glass ornaments. Another year it was a metal one that had "x12" on it. Another year it was this stocking. I don't remember the others. But I did it for several years, even when we were at a distance. Eventually we were no longer friends. I am not really sure what happened. But it was one of those things that I knew was coming long before it was announced. Well. It was fun while it lasted.
